Descrizione: Il 2013 segna la ricorrenza del Duecentesimo anniversario della nascita di Giuseppe Verdi (1813-1901) e Richard Wagner (1813-2013). In occasione di questo singolare evento, per la prima volta, si presenta l’integrale delle parafrasi e trascrizioni su opere di Verdi e Wagner, realizzate rispettivamente da Franz Liszt e Carl Tausig.
Ai brani più celebri del repertorio, come la Parafrasi sul Rigoletto di Liszt, si potranno ascoltare così l’Agnus Dei dal Requiem, la Salve Maria de Jerusalem, le trascrizioni dal Tristan und Isolde e dai Meistersinger, rarità autentiche, o prime incisioni assolute, capolavori del teatro musicale ma anche della musica pianistica di tutti i tempi. I due volti dell’Ottocento, Verdi e Wagner, rivivono nelle trascrizioni di Liszt e Tausig, maestro e allievo, in un progetto discografico che unisce ricerca musicologica a repertorio di tradizione.

In 2013 recurs the two-hundredth anniversary of the births of Giuseppe Verdi (1813-1901) and Richard Wagner (1813-1883). To celebrate this singular event, we present for the first time the complete recording of the transcriptions and paraphrases after operas by Verdi and Wagner, respectively composed by Franz Liszt and his pupil Carl Tausig. Well known pieces, like the transcriptions of Verdi’s Salve Maria de Jerusalem, the Agnus Dei or the famous Rigoletto Paraphrase, are here offered alongside authentic rarities, such as Tausig’s works after Tristan und Isolde and Die Meistersinger, to compose a collection of piano and operatic masterpieces of all time. Verdi and Wagner, two different sides of 19th Century music, can thus relive in the transcriptions by Liszt and Tausig, in a recording project that merges musicological research and traditional music repertoire.
